Scientia imperii decus et tutamen. Or to Enki natives (Enkianers) “knowledge is the adornment and protection of the Empire.” Up, up high in the sky, hidden amongst the white fluffy clouds is Enki.
Once upon a time, this little treasure in the sky was a well developed country, but after the great impact of Abaddon, it was horrifically blown into the skies. Fear not, as native Enkianers were soon able to develop the foundation of the state, building it upon special solid clouds in the skies and harnessing their powers using the weather. How do you ask? Well, those native to Enki have had to develop their abilities over time. However, those who have harnessed and honed their powers are now experts at controlling the weather. Their efforts are rewarded as these powers are extremely lucrative too. Turns out being able to change the weather comes in handy and other nations can pick and choose what season they like, but it doesn’t come cheap.
Over time, Enki became known as the epicentre of knowledge in Abaddon, after being the first to travel and move freely in Abaddon. Nowadays, it is the land of knowledge and in this country, knowledge is power. Enkianers have spent hundreds of years travelling around Abaddon, researching and collecting knowledge from all the places below them (referring to those in the below-world as “subjects” or “groundlings”).
It is these efforts which have led them to believe knowledge is everything, displaying superiority towards the groundlings, fearing them to be corrupt and therefore showing disdain at them for their inability to reach the level of enlightenment that Enkianers experience once over the age of 4. They despise being surrounded by those less intelligent than themselves, often referring to them as uncultured schweins ;) and so, they proceeded to create a sagacious city with the sole purpose of infinite learning.
Eventually, they acquired the largest accumulation of knowledge which is stored in its infamous libraries and universities found in the capital, Cloud VII. Here the crystal-clear glass floors beam and shine at you whilst you glide through the sky. Each library has a section dedicated to giant monocles, allowing the natives to zoom in on the groundlings, studying and observing them. Take a peep through the looking glass, and see the view from the skies.
